New and exciting features are helping the Tinker Library rise above standards and meet the needs of its patrons.
The library's collection of books, CDs and DVDs continues to grow rapidly. The library also offers computers for Internet use.
The library also offers resources for students. With full text articles and databases, students can easily access many sources for research and study. If the library does not have a book someone wants, a staff member will find it at another library within the interlibrary loan system.
In recognition of the election year, the library will offer a special story time related to the presidential election and an "election" to help them understand the voting process. Children can listen to candidates, such as Dora the Explorer and her platform, and vote for their favorite candidate.
Other upcoming features include February's "Bring a Friend to the Library" Day and Comic Book Day this May.
Library officials are also working with the Oklahoma Department of Libraries for this summer's reading program for children. Library officials said last year's program was a tremendous success and they will continue to expand and build the program.
Parents interested in keeping their child reading throughout the year should attend the weekly story time. Story time is 4 p.m. every Thursday. The library is also looking for volunteers to read at story time.
