Commanders Trophy League: DISA, 552nd CG battle to tie

The two teams that were tied for second place in Commanders Trophy League bowling standings squared off against each other at the Tinker Bowling Center Jan. 9. The result was an electrifying match with both sides having their highlights; however, the match resulted in a tie. 
   The match got underway with some friendly verbal banter between both teams. In game one of the match, the 552nd Communications Group team of Christopher Fry, George Bradley, Brett Bittle, Bob Carroll, and Kevin Grice displayed consistent bowling. This team effort overshadowed the bowling of Wayne Goodlin, who rolled five consecutive strikes to cut into the 552nd CG lead. 
   The 552nd CG team closed out it opponents and took game one 1102-1069. "This win in game one was a total team effort," Grice said. "We all worked together and it paid off."   
   The quintet of Mike Wang, Nick Lawter, Malachi Murphy, Jonathan Goodlin and Wayne Goodlin from Defense Information Systems Agency demonstrated their prowess on the lanes in game two. During one stretch, the entire team rolled 12 consecutive strikes en route to a convincing 1117-1022 victory "Wow, we really put it all together in this game. Every time we threw a strike all of our team got really excited," said Goodlin. 
   The third game proved to be pivotal and the most exciting of the three games. Biddle led the charge for the 552nd CG with three consecutive strikes giving his side a narrow margin of 589-566. Each team picked up the pace and the outcome was decided in the 10th frame. 
   DISA gained a tie by capturing the total pins advantage for the match. Grice struck out in the tenth to give his team a slight 1079-1066 victory. 
   The two teams not only tied on the scoreboard but in the season standings as well. Both teams now have identical 84.0-52.0 records.
