A four-goal third period by their opponent had one Tinker hockey team singing the blues Dec. 2.
In Oklahoma City Adult Winter League action, the Tinker Hawks 2 team fell to the Blues 6-3 at the Blazers Ice Centre in south Oklahoma City.
The Hawks came to the ice ready to play. At the 11:00 mark of the first period, Hawks defenseman Brandon Burk skated the length of the ice and deposited a wrist shot into the upper right corner of the Blues net, giving his team a 1-0 lead.
The Blues tied the game near the end of the period when Ben Trembley scored on a monstrous slap shot.
The momentum swung back to the Hawks in the second period. Goals by Jeff Ryan and George Ambelang gave the Hawks a 3-2 advantage going into the third period.
The third period was not kind to the Hawks. The Blues scored four goals in the first 10 minutes, giving them a decisive 6-3 victory.
Burk was the player of the game for the Hawks, finishing with a goal and an assist.
Tinker Hawks 2 is one of four teams from Tinker playing in the Oklahoma City Adult Hockey League. The others are Tinker Hawks 1 and Canadians A and B, representing the Canadian Component of the 552nd Air Control Wing.
"We all love to lace up the skates and play this great game," Dann Pettit, Hawks goaltender who faced 34 shots from the Blues.
The Tinker Hawks 2 will be on the ice again at 8:30 p.m. Sunday against the Old Kids at the Artic Edge Ice Arena in Edmond.
