We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give, Winston Churchill once said.
If these words are true, the lives of Team Tinker are full. Tinker Air Force Base exceeded its goal of raising $1.65 million for this year's Combined Federal Campaign
"Many gave and countless benefited," said Maj. Gen. Loren Reno, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center commander. "The percentage who gave something exceeded the national average by about 16 percent. It gives me an insight into the size of the hearts of our people."
Contributions to the seven-week campaign totaled $1.74 million, more than $113,000 over goal.
"Each year we've met our goal. We've got tremendous stamina," said John Over, OC-ALC executive director. "This is all about people caring about people. Our community appreciates us being here and they show it everyday. This is our opportunity to show we care to the surrounding communities and communities outside of Tinker."
CFC campaign leaders and staff thanked base organizations for their campaign support during the celebration ceremony Nov. 16 at the Tinker Club.
"Our campaign has been a success because of you and the generosity displayed each year by our contributors," said April Hallback, CFC support staff worker and narrator.
At the ceremony, organizations were awarded Early Bird certificates for meeting their goal within seven days of the campaign. Top performing organizations were also honored for meeting the highest percentage of their goal with the highest percentage of participation.
The CFC is a national and international fundraiser, which collectively has more than 300 programs raising money for 1,800 charities between Sept.1 and Dec. 15 each year.
Tinker's fundraiser started Oct. 3 and lasted until Nov. 16.
