The bowling action on Halloween night at the Tinker Bowling Center was filled with costumes, candy, strikes and spares. The quintet of the 654th Combat Logistics Support Squadron defeated a spirited 552nd Communications Group team, 2,787-2,721.
The first game was controlled from the outset by the third place group from the 552nd CG. George Bradley was the key component of the success with five strikes over the first seven frames of action.
"This is an aberration, I don't normally bowl this well," Bradley said. "But, if it helps our team, I am all for it."
The 654th CLSS tried to keep it competitive in game one, but the five bowlers from the 552nd CG kept up the pace and seized game one 1181-1076.
In game two, the tides were turned by the quintet of the 654th CLSS. The strikes came early and often and they surged to an insurmountable lead by the fifth frame. Ronald Lindsey, David Bolen and Wesley Durant led the scoring by bowling 191, 211 and 191, respectively.
"This was a total team effort," Bolen said. "We picked each other up as the game progressed and we are pleased at the outcome."
In the third and decisive game of the match, it was much of the same for the 654th CLSS. The lead came early and they built a sizeable advantage through the first five frames.
"We tried to make a valiant comeback, but it just was not to be tonight," said James Griffin of the 552nd CG. "These guys from the 654th CLSS are really bowling well tonight."
In the final tally, the 654th CLSS team was victorious two games to one and they also took the total pins victory. The victory gave them a 22.0-42.0 season record, while the loss dropped the 552nd CG to 36.0-28.0 on the season.
