Government officials and legislators from across the United States and its territories will visit Tinker Air Force Base Wednesday as a part of the Council of State Governments annual meeting.
"They will visit static aircraft displays, do some hands-on things on readiness and deployment," said Dan Bell, a coordinator of the event. "It will be an exciting whirlwind visit."
The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center protocol office said they expect about 50 state legislators to tour the facilities. The group will visit 552nd Air Combat Command's E-3 and E-6 aircraft displays, 3rd Combat Communications Group's satellites and air traffic control tower along with a chemical gear and weapons display. The legislators will also tour the maintenance wing in Bldg. 3001.
The Council of State Governments is a multi-branch organization established in the 1930s that forecasts policy trends and champions state sovereignty. They also alert state elected and appointed officials to emerging social, economic and political trends.
The Tinker visit is a part of the four-day Annual State Trends and Leadership Forum held in Oklahoma City.
