Phase one of a two phase 10-day operational readiness exercise, Resolute Warrior 08-01, began Oct. 15. During the first phase, Airmen prepared for deployment by participating in an exercise deployment line.
As the exercise progresses, Airmen will defend a fictitious installation against Middle Eastern aggressors at Glenwood Training Area and the south aircraft parking ramp. Although deployment and preparation issues are vital, safety is a top priority.
"This exercise is a great opportunity for each group and squadron to demonstrate its capabilities, but we need everyone to remember that safety comes first," said Lt. Col. Thomas E. Painter, 72nd Air Base Wing chief of Safety. "The exercise is a great learning experience that we can use to identify potential hazards now, so that they don't affect us when we go to support the real thing."
