The deadline to register for the Family Support Center's Heartlink Program is Thursday. The program is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23 in Bldg. 6001.
All spouses who are new to the military lifestyle are encouraged to register for this quarter's orientation program, said Master Sgt. Gary Smith, FSC superintendent. Free lunch and child care will be provided, but participants must register by the deadline.
According to Sergeant Smith, the program is not just for Air Force spouses.
"Heartlink is open to all branches of service at Team Tinker and for personnel who are geographically separated from their home base," he said.
The program is set up to help spouses adjust to their new lifestyle and the challenges they will face. Many spouses have not been around the military and are not aware of the numerous requirements placed on the active duty member.
The Heartlink program provides spouses with information about the Air Force mission, customs, traditions, protocol, support resources and services available to them.
Representatives from base agencies such as the Military Personnel Flight, Family Advocacy, Finance, Tinker Chapel, Family Support and Staff Judge Advocate will be on hand to answer questions.
The information provided during the five hour program will help the spouses better manage the day-to-day responsibilities when their spouse is deployed.
"Seasoned" spouses will also be in attendance to offer assistance, encouragement and provide insight into how to maintain a healthy and happy marriage through permanent change of duty stations and TDYs.
