Robert Hopwood, 76th Maintenance Wing, is the September Safety Hero Award winner.
While walking through an area, Mr. Hopwood noticed a worker on a mobile manlift approximately 20 feet in the air. The worker was wearing fall protection, but the area around the manlift was not properly barricaded off for safety. Several forklifts moving through the area narrowly missed hitting the manlift. This was a potentially deadly hazard that Mr. Hopwood noticed and took decisive action to correct. The work on the man lift was terminated until the area could be properly cordoned off and then work resumed safely.
Congratulations and thanks to Mr. Hopwood for his exceptional attention to detail and desire to keep fellow Tinker personnel safe.
If you have seen someone going beyond the call of duty to improve safety conditions at Tinker, nominate them as a "Safety Hero" to the 72nd ABW/SE Workflow e-mail account.
