The Tinker Rangers' regular season in the National Adult Baseball Association ended with a 9-5 loss to Team Dynasty Aug. 22 at Lake Hefner Park.
The Rangers got off to a quick start scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning. Stephen Escalante singled sharply into right field to get the Rangers jump started. Escalante scored on consecutive wild pitches to give the Rangers the early, but short lived, 1-0 lead.
Team Dynasty responded in the top of the second inning by putting three runs on the board.
"We need to play better defense and I know our hitting will follow suit," Escalante said.
Escalante's pitching performance enabled the Rangers to keep the game close at 5-2 through six innings.
"I am not a big time strikeout pitcher," Escalante said. "However, my split-finger fastball was working to perfection and my ability to change speeds allowed me to keep these hitters at bay."
Leftfielder Sean Thompson was the Rangers' hitting star. He went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored.
The Rangers finished the regular season with a 7-9 record, while Team Dynasty improved to 4-9.
The Rangers' next appearance on the diamond will be in the 2007 United States Air Force Baseball Tournament Sept. 5-9 in Washington, D.C.
Upon their return the Rangers will compete for the NABA National Division championship as the No. 6 seed in the post season tournament.
