The Tinker golf season came to a close last week when the club champion was crowned.
he 2007 Club Championship, held Aug. 25 and 26, was divided into two flights -- championship and first. Both flights had a myriad of competitive golfers trying to gain the top prize.
After the first round was complete, both flights were jammed up at the top of leader board. Mike Moccia, Mel Nailon and Dale Caradoona held the top three spots on the first flight leader board. The top three spots in the championship flight were held by Richard Alexander, Terry Barker and Keith Freide.
"Some days you got it, and other days you don't," said Barker.
As the second day of golf started, both flights resumed with a new vigor. Nailon captured the lion's share of the first flight prize by shooting a 72 on the course. He was followed by Tracy Thompson and Moccia, who shot 74 and 81, respectively, on the final day.
In the championship flight, Alexander continued his dominance from the first day with score of 73, followed by Barker with a 77 and Roger Thompson with a 78.
The winner of each flight was provided with a glass engraved trophy and the three top finishers were given gift certificates from the Tinker Golf Course pro shop.
"This was a great opportunity for us to put our talents to the test," Barker said. "Sometimes you make the shots necessary, while other times the swings of the clubs are not the best."
