Civil Air Patrol is the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. The non-profit, volunteer backed organization plays a key role in missions such as search and rescue, disaster relief operations, humanitarian assistance, aerial photography and damage assessment for FEMA and other state agencies.
In the latest edition of the Tinker Talks Podcast, Clayton Cummins sits down with Col. David McCollum. the Commander of the Civil Air Patrol Oklahoma Wing, McCollum, discusses how he and his team of volunteer members support the Sooner state.
A hallmark of his tenure at Civil Air Patrol, McCollum focuses on his unwavering support of youth development. Under his leadership Civil Air Patrol’s cadet program has flourished, offering individuals agreed 12 to 21 opportunities in aerospace education, leadership training and physical fitness.
The Civil Air Patrol Oklahoma Wing consists of 399 adult members, 471 cadets, 63 aircrew personnel, and 560 emergency responders. With 19 squadrons located statewide, the Civil Air Patrol Oklahoma Wing operates a total of nine single-engine aircraft and one glider.
