Tinker Air Force Base remains committed to sustaining national defense, supporting mission-essential operations, and ensuring the safety and readiness of its service members, civilian workforce, and families. This guide outlines which services will continue, which may be limited and which will be closed. If you are a service provider and you need to update this information, please call the Tinker Public Affairs Office.

SERVICES NOT IMPACTED
Essential Services and Operations:

  • Core Mission: Flying operations, depot maintenance, and national defense tasks continue uninterrupted.
  • Airfield Operations: Aircraft launch, recovery, and air traffic control remain active.
  • Security and Emergency Services: Law enforcement, fire, and emergency response are fully operational.
  • Medical Care: Military treatment facilities, including pharmacy services, remain open. Some routine care may be limited based on staffing and priorities.
  • Military Personnel: Service members will continue performing assigned duties; pay may be delayed.

Support and Community Services:

  • Child Development Center: CDC East, South and West remain open, including before and after school care.
  • Commissary and Base Exchange: Open to authorized patrons.
  • Dining: Vanwey Dining Facility remains open for regular hours.
  • Fitness Center: Gerrity Fitness Center will stay open with 24-hour operations.
  • Post Office: Postal services will function normally.
  • Recreation: Golf Course, bowling alley, Information, Tickets and Travel program, and FamCamp remain open.
  • Chapel: All services offered by the Tinker AFB chapel will continue as normal.

Administrative and Training:

  • Finance and MPF: Finance and military personnel flight services will continue. Wait time may be increased.
  • Airman Leadership School: Tinker Airman Leadership School will continue its mission.
  • Honor Guard: Honor Guard will continue to support requests as normal.
  • Professional Development Center and Military Testing
  • Resource Management

 

SERVICES IMPACTED
Workforce:

  • Civilian Workforce: Non-exempt employees will be furloughed; essential or funded roles continue without pay until appropriations resume. Retroactive pay is guaranteed by law.
  • Contractor Support: Contractors under fully funded contracts may continue working. Status varies; contact your employer to confirm.
  • Personnel Support: Manpower office, Civilian personnel office, Numbered Air Force Human Resources office are limited.

Legal and Oversight:

  • Legal Office: Legal services will remain available with limited personnel.
  • Inspector General: Will continue operations with limited personnel.

Communication:

  • Public Affairs: Website updates and social media posts will pause. The Team Tinker Photo Studio will remain open under reduced manning, including passport photos and official portraits.
  • Marketing: Office will be impacted

Support and Development:

  • Military Family Readiness Center: Services are limited.
  • Force Development office: Services are limited.
  • Education and Training: Building 201E & Building 1 offer limited services.

Recreation and Services:

  • Outdoor Recreation: Equipment rental is open, day trips will proceed as planned, please contact ODR for more information. Overnight trips will be cancelled until further notice.
  • Arts & Crafts: Arts and Crafts will be minimally manned. Some programs and classes will be rescheduled. All contracted classes will continue normally.
  • Auto Hobby Shop: The shop is minimally manned but will remain open with limited self-help tasks such as oil changes. No brake jobs or motor repairs are available at this time.
