Chief Master Sergeant Malcolm O. Summers II

Chief Master Sergeant Malcolm O. Summers II is the Command Chief for the 72nd Air Base Wing, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. As the principal advisor to the Installation Commander, he leads the wing’s enlisted force and provides strategic guidance on the effective utilization, training, development, and readiness of nearly 3,000 military and civilian Airmen. Under his senior enlisted leadership, the wing is responsible for $5.4 billion in resources and a $311 million operating budget. He provides direct operational and installation support for over 29,000 personnel assigned to the Headquarters Air Force Sustainment Center, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, 552nd Air Control Wing, Navy Strategic Communications Wing One, 507th Air Refueling Wing, 448th Supply Chain Management Wing, and 45 other associate units, including the Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Information Systems Agency, Defense Finance and Accounting Service, and the 38th Cyberspace Engineering Installation Group. The wing also provides dedicated care and services for military dependents and 36,500 retirees. In this role, Chief Summers ensures the 72nd ABW enables numerous critical missions at Tinker AFB, the largest single-site employer in the state of Oklahoma.

Chief Summers hails from Hawthorne, California. He enlisted into the Air Force in January 1998 as an Aerospace Propulsion Apprentice before retraining as a Civil Engineer Operations Manager in 2014. Throughout his career, he has held diverse leadership roles at the Squadron, Group, Wing, and Numbered Air Force levels. His extensive background encompasses positions in aircraft maintenance, military training, civil engineering, and a tour as a special duty instructor. He has served at installations in California, Texas, Mississippi, Colorado, Arizona, and South Korea, and has deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, FREEDOM'S SENTINEL, and INHERENT RESOLVE. Prior to his current position, Chief Summers was the Senior Enlisted Airman, Space Launch Delta 30, Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
