The 76th Aircraft Maintenance Group held a change of command ceremony here June 19, 2026.

Col. William "Brad" Burrous succeeded Col. Jennifer Phillips as commander in a ceremony presided by Brig. Gen. Lindsay Droz, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex commander.

Droz addressed Phillips’ successes with the group, highlighting the achievements under her command.

“When a good leader leaves, the unit’s success persists. A great leader seamlessly fades into the sunset, leaving a highly capable team that achieves great results,” Droz said. “Col. Phillips arrived in 2024, taking the reins of the largest group in the Air Force. Take that in for a moment—not just the largest maintenance group in the Air Force, but the largest group, period. The mission of AMXG is so critical and demanding that failure is not an option, and its readiness impacts are felt Air Force-wide.”

Some of Phillips’ other accomplishments included immersing herself in the challenges of maintaining the U.S. Navy’s E-6B Mercury, navigating heavy maintenance to programmed depot maintenance, and leading supporting services.

Phillips was awarded the Legion of Merit during the ceremony and addressed her group for the final time. “AMXG family, despite a challenging two years, you have rallied and continue to exceed the wartime mission every day,” Phillips said. “You are the cornerstone of America’s ability to generate combat airpower, and you will leave your legacy on this Air Force.”

After accepting the guidon, Burrous addressed his group for the first time, citing his optimism for taking command. “It is truly an honor to join such an outstanding team,” Burrous said. “This group has earned a reputation for excellence. That reputation was not built overnight, but over decades by generations of skilled maintainers, artisans, engineers, planners, logisticians, and support professionals who understood that every aircraft delivered back to the warfighter matters to our nation’s defense.”

The 76th AMXG’s mission is to advance the War Department's mission readiness across multiple airframes through strategic modernization, advanced manufacturing, and innovative repair capabilities.
