Tinker’s AFSA Thunderbird Chapter takes home 2015 Division 3 Annual Awards Published May 20, 2016 By Air Force Sergeants Association TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Tinker's AFSA Chapter 985 brought home several awards from the AFSA Division 3 Conference. The Air Force Sergeants Association exists for the purpose of representing the interests of Air Force members past and present and their families. The organization works directly with USAF leadership as well as the nation's legislative leaders in Washington D.C. to preserve and enhance the benefits deserved of all Airmen. Its members are spread across the globe in various chapters that not only support AFSA's national mission, but also serve their local areas through generous philanthropy. Of course, Tinker's very own Chapter 985 is no exception. Chapter 985 works hard with base and local leaders to identify and solve issues that affect Airmen and their families as well as give back to the community through various volunteer efforts. The many successes of Chapter 985 are the product of volunteer members shouldering the burden. Annually, the chapter takes time to thank and recognize them for their selfless efforts in supporting Airmen, veterans, and their families. Each local award winner has the opportunity to compete at the AFSA Division 3 conference. Division 3 includes 13 chapters spanning a 10-state region. Chapter 985 members humbly accepted Division 3 wins in the following team categories: Chapter Community Service Award and Chapter Newsletter of the Year. The accolades did not end with the team. Taking home the AFSA Division 3 NCO of the Year award, was Tinker's very own Staff Sgt. David A. Trevino who selflessly serves the chapter in many capacities and serves Tinker as an instructor at Airman Leadership School. Sergeant Trevino and the chapter will compete at the 2016 International Convention and Professional Airmen's Conference in San Antonio, Texas, Aug. 20-24. Chapter 985 invites all Airmen and their families to join them at the General Membership meetings held 2nd Thursday of every month at the Tinker Club at 11:30 a.m.
