Showtime knocks off No. 1 seed to advance/Football playoffs start Tuesday

Showtime upset No. 1 seed Flight Controllers 49-36 on Tuesday to advance in the intramural basketball tournament.

Results after Tuesday night's games (the latest results available due to Take Off deadlines) had Bunch of Losers also advancing with a 42-37 victory over 72 MDG. 552 OSS beat SCW-1 by 31-28. VQ-7 toppled Garbage 43-37.

Four more matchups were scheduled for Wednesday. Two games on Thursday were to determine the head-to-head 5 p.m. Monday championship duel at the Gerrity Fitness Center.

The undefeated Flight Controllers lost their first game as Showtime's Jarail Smith led scoring with four treys among 19 points. Kendall Neeland racked up 12, followed by Corey Clark, 11.

Ryan Hytche led the Flight Controllers with 17 points, including three 3-pointers.
On Monday, the Flight Controllers beat 552 OSS 48-33. Showtime edged SCW-1 by 46-35. 72 Med Group had a close one, 38-35, against VQ-7. Bunch of Losers ran away from Garbage 54-35.

Football playoffs start Tuesday

The Spring Flag Football League playoffs begin Tuesday evening and will continue every Tuesday until the May 17 championship.

All eight SFFL teams will be seeded in the double-elimination tournament at the athletic field north of the dorms.  

The regular season ended last Tuesday and set the playoff seeding. Med Group finished No. 1, followed in order by 552 AMXS, Reserve White, Reserve Gold, 424 SCMS, 552 MXS, 72 SFS and the Swamp Donkeys.

Reserve Gold and 424 SCMS will kick off the playoffs at 5:15 p.m., followed by Reserve White vs. 552 MXS at 6:15.

Starting at 7:15, 552 AMXS will take on 72 SFS, then 72 Med Group will grapple with the Swamp Donkeys (552 Sheet Metal) at 8:15.
