Vice Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Visits Tinker Published March 29, 2016 By 72nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will visit here Friday, April 1, for an update on missions of the Air Force Sustainment Center, headquartered at Tinker Air Force Base, and Team Tinker's contribution to the nation's strategic nuclear deterrence. Air Force Sustainment Center Commander, Lt Gen Lee K. Levy II, will host General Paul J. Selva, as they tour multiple units during the Vice Chairman's visit. A key part of the visit will be updates from the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex. General Selva will review sustainment of both the B-52 Stratofortress and KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft in Programmed Depot Maintenance. He will see how the OC-ALC supports the legacy fleet, current 5th generation weapons systems and the nuclear mission. The General will also be briefed on how Tinker AFB is postured to support future missions including the KC-46 Pegasus. General Selva's tour includes a visit to the Navy's Strategic Communications Wing One, which flies the E-6B Mercury aircraft. The E-6B enables national command and control authorities to communicate with the nation's nuclear capable submarine fleet and land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles. Mrs. Ricki Selva will be accompanying the Vice Chairman and will receive updates on resiliency programs and meet with military members and spouses in roundtable forums. Finally, General Selva will be the guest speaker for the Tinker Community Dining Out at the Tinker Club during the evening where he will recognize the importance of continuing the strong and fruitful relationship and the accomplishments of Team Tinker.
