Tinker tops $1 million in CFC drive

Tinker tops $1 million in CFC drive

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Key staff and volunteers were recognized Tuesday for outstanding achievements in helping Tinker Air Force Base raise over $1 million in the 2015 Combined Federal Campaign.

The base total of $1,031,292 represented nearly half of the $2.3 million in donations from federal employees in the 16-county Central Oklahoma campaign.

"We could not do what we do without Tinker Air Force Base and its support," Carly Johnson, the United Way Central Oklahoma CFC coordinator, said at the Hill Conference Center ceremony. "Our community would not be the great place that it is if we didn't have the support of the people that work at Tinker Air Force Base."

Col. Stephanie Wilson, 72nd Air Base Wing and installation commander, thanked all volunteers and donors who made the drive a success. Colonel Wilson coined Capt. Joseph Hoang, the base's campaign coordinator, for "stepping up to the challenge."

"It's a worthy cause that comes right back to this community," Colonel Wilson said. "I'm proud of what Team Tinker has done to raise over a million dollars. That's amazing."

This is the ninth year in a row that Tinker has raised over $1 million in the campaign, said Captain Hoang, with the base's judge advocate office.
