The Tinker Junior Force Council is an organization targeting Tinker's junior workforce in mentoring, training and career development opportunities. Though it is intended for new federal employees and federal employees ranked at GS-11 and WG-11 and below, all military and civilian employees are welcome to join.

JFC strives to empower each member to contribute value to their organization and have an impact within the United States Air Force. The overall vision of the JFC is to utilize perspectives, opinions and ideas of the junior force, while exploring the organizational issues facing Team Tinker moving toward the future. JFC provides information and interactive workshops on résumé building and other programs, such as the Supervisor Development Program and Employee Enhancement Program.

JFC offers many opportunities to receive career coaching, participate in volunteer opportunities and engage in team building activities. In May, the organization holds the Senior Leadership Forum with a panel of senior leaders who share their experience and provide guidance on how to advance in your Air Force civilian/military career.

Annually, JFC holds a Letters for Troops drive, collecting letters from children 12 and below to send to the troops for encouragement and to thank them for their service.
Senior leaders recognize JFC for its valuable contribution.

Kevin O'Connor, vice director of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, said the JFC provides an excellent opportunity for junior employees to learn more about the missions across Tinker AFB.

"It is a good way to network not only with peers, but also with senior leaders through the various events and leadership briefings," he said. "I have had the opportunity to address the Council on several occasions through the years ... and every time I learn something new about our junior workforce -- their perspectives, their concerns, and their ambitions .... it is inspiring to witness their passion and excitement for the future of Tinker AFB."

Bob Sandlin, 72nd Air Base Wing director of Staff, agreed, adding the JFC is a very active and productive forum with many outstanding opportunities for junior employees to enhance their career development and to meet and interact with both senior leaders and peers.

"Being part of the JFC can be a very rewarding experience and I would encourage and recommend every junior employee on Tinker join and become part of the JFC," Mr. Sandlin said.

To learn more about JFC and future topics, visit the council's SharePoint site and attend an event. Meetings are scheduled the last Thursday of every month. The SharePoint site is listed under Quick Links, on the Tinker home page.
