AROUND TINKER: ITEC Spotlight Published Jan. 8, 2016 By Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The 72nd Air Base Wing Communications Directorate's Information Technology Equipment Custodian, "ITEC Spotlight," for December honors Sheila Wakely of the Missile Sustainment Division (AFNWC/NDM). Ms. Wakely is the Primary ITEC for an IT Asset Management account of 184 assets valued at more than $245,000. In addition to her ITEC responsibilities, Ms. Wakely serves as a one-stop shop for all of her unit's communications needs, including providing IT customer service and troubleshooting. She's been in her current position since March 2011 and says one of the positive aspects of being an ITEC is getting to interact with every employee in the organization, which most people don't get to do. On the other hand, her biggest challenge stems from personnel moving equipment without telling her. Luckily though, despite being spread out among six different locations, all of her ITAM assets are in one building making the hunt for missing items a bit easier. One problem Ms. Wakely deals with quite often relates to her unit's high TDY rate. This causes problems for her when it comes to inventorying her account assets, particularly laptops. She overcame the problem by anticipating the inventory and scheduling time with personnel before their departure. This allows her to stay on top of the inventory and know where each piece of equipment is at all times. The 72nd ABW/SC salute Ms. Wakely for her creativity, diligence and hard work fulfilling her ITEC responsibilities and her commitment in support of the warfighters.
