The B-2 Bombers dropped a hefty payload of 3-pointers on their way to smashing up 72 ABW (CE) 54-33.

Matthew Castile and Reggie Evans led a game-long 3-point bombing run in the Dec. 16 game. They launched shots on either side of the top of the key as Castile hit six 3s and Evans sunk four. Overall, the team hit 13 treys for 39 points.

Castile was the game's lead scorer with 24, followed by Evans with 12.

72 ABW's top point maker was Mike Green with 11. Ray Green scored 9 points with a hat trick of 3-pointers.

Ray Green triggered a big play with a steal about six minutes into the 16-minute first half. He passed to an open Brandon Nicholson who dribbled inside for a layup to make it 7-7.

The Bombers lived up to their name with a flurry of 3-pointers from Ben Kelley, Reggie Evans and Castile. Eight unanswered Bomber points at the end of the half gave them a 29-19 lead.

The Bombers extended a lead early in the second half with multiple 3-pointers mixed with goals. Their lead widened to 42-24 at 7:25.

72 ABW later closed that margin to 42-30 by landing free throws after several fouls and a trey by Joel Pollard. Castile then single-handedly revived the Bombers' scoring with a consecutive string of two 3-pointers, two free throw baskets and a layup.

Bomber Kelley added another layup before 72nd ABW's Ray Green tossed a 3 for the final basket.

After the game, Ray Green said "the Bombers just couldn't miss and we didn't have an answer to their bombardment of threes." He said the team hopes that a Bomber player who suffered a knee injury is feeling better.

Castile said the team worked hard on defense, leading to some good shots on the offensive side. The players mostly hail from Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and the 76th Software Maintenance Group.

The "Bombers" name isn't necessarily due to a downtown-based offense, "but it may be fitting since we do like shooting threes," he said.
