It's that time of year again. The Combined Federal Campaign fundraiser kicked off yesterday and Tinker military members and civilians can now donate to CFC-approved charities. With 2,000 local, national and international charities to choose from, officials said they hope Tinker makes its goal of $1.2 million raised.

Team Tinker can meet its goal if every person on base donates $55.  That is just a dollar a day for every day of the campaign.

"With a little bit of sacrifice, we could support every organization out there that needs help," said Capt. Joseph Hoang, CFC project officer. "It would immensely help those who depend on our generosity."

While thousands of charities apply to be a part of the CFC, not all of them make into the program. The chosen ones have been vetted and have included documents such as financial statements with income thresholds. They have been reviewed and approved. There are roughly 200 local charities in the 16-county area of Central Oklahoma's CFC, which includes Oklahoma City, Stillwater and Enid.

These charities don't help some unknown person in the community. They are working with people who live on this base, your friends, co-workers, neighbors and maybe yourself. A CFC Fair will be held from

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Bldg. 3001 Oklahoma Room. Everyone is invited to come and hear from some of the local charities about the work they do. It is a great opportunity to learn about how donations are making a difference.

CFC is the only authorized workplace giving campaign for federal employees. Each charity has a designation code and pledges can be made through a paper pledge card or electronically through "My Pay." If donating, a minimum $2 per pay period per charity is required.

Last year, Central Oklahoma CFC raised $2.5 million with Tinker's donations comprising approximately 60 percent of that.

Each of Tinker's organizations will have key workers who can provide more information about the fundraiser or how to donate.
