AROUND TINKER: ITEC Spotlight Published June 12, 2015 By Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The 72nd Air Base Wing Communications Directorate's Information Technology Equipment Custodian, "ITEC Spotlight," for May honors Laura Williams of the 72nd Air Base Wing Plans and Programs Office. Ms. Williams is the primary ITEC for an IT Asset Management account of 65 assets valued at close to $55,000. She says having her ITAM account assets located in just one building rather than several has made it much easier for her to keep track of her inventory. Previously, her items were in several buildings and she performed an inventory every three months to ensure 100 percent accountability. She now only needs to do an inventory every six months, which frees up time for her other responsibilities. Ms. Williams feels one of the most positive things about being an ITEC is the prompt response she receives from the ITAM office when she has questions or needs help. In addition, she believes creating an Excel spreadsheet to track the location of every piece of her inventory and its tech-refresh date has helped her tremendously and recommends all ITECs do the same. She has been employed at Tinker since March of 2000 and has been in her current position as a planner for the Base Contingency Program since January 2012. As a planner, Ms. Williams uses her knowledge of contingency operations, methods, procedures, regulations, policies and precedents to plan, schedule and conduct projects and make recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency of work in a program or work setting.
