OC-ALC change of command Tuesday Published March 20, 2015 By Tinker Public Affairs 3/20/2015 TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Members of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex will say goodbye to one commander and welcome another next week. On Tuesday, Brig. Gen. Gene Kirkland will relinquish command of the complex he has directed since September 2012. As the commander, General Kirkland has served an 8,600 person team responsible for $3 billion in revenue. General Kirkland entered the Air Force in 1988 through Officer Training School. He is a career aircraft and munitions maintenance officer, and has served on the J4 logistics staffs at U.S. Central Command and The Joint Staff. General Kirkland will become the Director of Logistics for Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Incoming commander Brig. Gen. Mark Johnson is the commander of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, a field activity of the Defense Logistics Agency. DLA Aviation supports more than 1,800 weapon systems and is the U.S. military's integrated materiel manager for more than 1.1 million national stock number items, industrial retail supply and depot-level repairable acquisitions. General Johnson oversees an aviation demand chain responsible for more than $4.4 billion in annual sales. General Johnson entered the Air Force in 1988. A career Logistics Readiness Officer, he has commanded units at the squadron, group and wing level, as well as served in logistics staff positions at the major command, Headquarters U.S. Air Force and joint levels. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Hollywood and Vine in Bldg. 3001.
