Members of the joint Force Support Squadron Installation Personnel Readiness Section and the Logistics Readiness Squadron' Deployment and Distribution Flight recently received a 72nd Air Base Wing Wildcatter Award.

Throughout the latter half of 2014, these Wildcatters were responsible for deploying more than 1,300 personnel with a 99.9 percent non-discrepancy rate, and making huge strides in implementing process improvement efforts within the ABW.

The staffs worked together to slash the PDF processing time from 25 to
8 minutes per person and cut the discrepancy rate from 40 percent to 1 percent. The D&D Flight also developed a Deployment Processing Guide in which they established four functional area gates and reduced passenger-processing time from 1:30 minutes to 60 seconds per person -- which gives Airmen back a little more time to spend with their families prior to deployments.

The IPR staff also met weekly to go over ways to eliminate waste. They have identified 23 areas for improvement, and have already taken 12 corrective actions. They also determined that implementing one change from their CPI sessions for all exercises would save the AF an average of approximately 650 man-hours per year, or 81.5 duty days.

In addition to improving their operations, the staffs continue to achieve tremendous mission results in the ABW's deployment mission. The IPR staff updated or corrected 289 AEF TEAMING records in 11 squadrons to help AFMC become 100 percent compliant. They meticulously inspected 438 personnel readiness folders and found and helped members correct 73 errors. They also assured 100 percent accountability of 98 military, civilian and dependents in the recent Air Force Personnel Accountability and Assessment System exercise.

The D&D team orchestrated the Air Tactical Operations Center self-help project; leading 12 personnel in a $43,000 renovation project that has saved taxpayers more than $100,000. The team also took the lead on securing $350,000 to repair the mechanized material handling system in Bldg. 260 and the Air Terminal's X-Ray machine in Bldg. 255, which saved $33,000 compared to purchasing a new machine.

Lastly, the team coordinated the Passenger Terminal move to Bldg. 255, which centralized personnel and activities into one user-friendly facility and saved $48,000 in construction costs.
