FOD Fighters
The 76th Propulsion Maintenance Group’s F-117 Sub Assembly Shop was the winner of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex’s Foreign Object Damage Prevention Quarterly Award for FY15-1. Over the course of FY15-1, “No-notice” inspections were conducted in the F-117 Sub Assembly at the wing, group and squadron level resulting in zero findings. In the past quarter, more than 85 inspections containing a FOD element have been conducted in the F-117 area resulting in a 100 percent pass rate. Seven of these inspections were FOD/Housekeeping specific, targeting the work area as a whole, while the other inspections specifically focused on the individual mechanic and their personal FOD training and practices as it relates to their daily duties. The shop’s dedication to FOD awareness is in the numbers. The mechanics in this shop are conscientious of the part they play in maintaining a FOD-free environment. Quality Assurance Specialists working alongside the 76th PMXG leadership in this area confirm that the mechanics in this shop go above and beyond by conducting daily FOD walks, exceeding the mandated weekly FOD walks.
