SAPR
About 75 individuals representing Air Force and Navy leadership attended a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Symposium Jan. 21 to get reacquainted with policies regarding sexual assault. The group was briefed by base agencies such as the Sexual Assault Victim Advocates, Equal Opportunity, Family Advocacy, Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate, Civilian Personnel, Office of Special Investigations, the Judge Advocate and Special Victims Council, Mental Health and the Chaplain Corps. The leaders were given scenarios and had to come up with the correct plan of action and learned that no matter the scenario, leaders should always call OSI for unrestricted reports of sexual assault. Victims requesting a restricted report should contact the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator first. The symposium provided a place to voice questions and concerns and to receive answers directly from the helping agencies. Col. Lea Kirkwood, 72nd Air Base Wing vice commander, said the base is making strides and improvements to the process and urged everyone to reach out for assistance when dealing with SAPR issues.
