Commander urges vigilance Published Sept. 26, 2014 By Col. Christopher P. Azzano 72nd Air Base Wing and Tinker Installation Commander TINKER AIR FORCE BASE - Okla. -- Team Tinker, As our Armed Forces continue to lead the fight against terrorism, we must remain aware of the threats terrorist organizations pose to Americans at home and abroad. While we have no reason to believe Tinker is more at risk today than yesterday, common sense dictates we remain vigilant on the job and at home. Every Airman (civilian and military) and every family member brings another valuable set of eyes and ears to our common defense. It is critical that every one of us keep a watchful eye and report anything suspicious or out of place to the Eagle Eye hotline at 734-3737 or to your local law enforcement. Our adversaries are monitoring our activities, conversations and communications using various tactics to gain information that can be used against us. They are surfing the Internet, reading web blogs, searching our social media and even talking to us to gain access to our critical information, photographs and structure. It is absolutely critical that every Airman follow Operations Security protocols. I encourage each of you to remain vigilant. Get to know your neighbors, report suspicious activity and stay informed through preparedness, education, community involvement and by fostering partnerships between individuals, groups and organizations. Maintaining Operations Security should be the paramount concern and your vigilance in this area should apply not only at work, but each time you sign in to Facebook, LinkedIn or any other social media from your personal devices. As you refresh and review your personal protective measures, always remember your contributions to our mission are vitally important. While we have made tremendous progress against our enemies since the attacks of 9/11, recent events underscore we still have much work to do. Your vital role on Team Tinker directly enables our fight against terrorism. Thank you for your continued loyal service.
