Sesame Street characters teach Tinker kids about military life, moving and making friends Published Sept. 19, 2014 By Jessica Shaffer 72nd Force Support Squadron Marketing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE - Okla. -- The Tinker Auditorium was full of families on Sept. 13 and 14 thanks to the Sesame Street/USO Experience for Military Families. Upon entering the auditorium, children received flashing, spinning Elmo toys. Once the show got started, everyone was invited to dance along with the show, starting with the "Elmo Shuffle." The Sesame Street/USO Experience for Military Families was a fun show with a touching story. The show related to the military lifestyle as one character, Katie, expressed her sadness in having to move to a new base and away from her friends. Elmo, Cookie Monster and other friends assured Katie that not only will they remain friends by calling, writing and sending each other pictures, but that she will also make many more wonderful friends in her new home. With the help from the Sesame Street/USO Experience for Military Families, parents could go home and discuss any recent or upcoming changes with their children. This show offered one more tool to help in the difficulties and stressors that apply to military families.
