Fall intramural sports teams forming now: Last day for basketball tryouts Published Sept. 12, 2014 By John Parker Staff Writer TINKER AIR FORCE BASE - Okla. -- Cooler air is on its way, which means it's time to get with co-workers and colleagues and jump into fall sports. Teams are forming now for intramural football and soccer. The varsity Tinker Hawks basketball team will hold its last official day of tryouts today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gerrity Fitness Center. The Hawks were runner-ups last year in the military basketball championship at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. For more tryout information, call coach Clarence "Griff" Griffin at 734-4662. Soccer is tentatively scheduled to start Sept. 22, said Sports Director Pat Griffin. Organizations that want to join in on the fun and competition need to fill out a notice and return it by Sept. 18. Air Force units that are not participating are also asked to provide the form. Soccer team representatives and sports officials are asked to meet at 11:15 a.m. today at the Gerrity Fitness Center for an informational meeting. Flag football is tentatively scheduled to begin on Sept. 23. The deadline for team entries is Sept. 18 and requires a form to be filled out.
