Recently, Tinker Air Force Base conducted a "Caring for People" forum to identify and address significant community issues requiring resolution.

The forum consisted of the base helping agencies and a cross-section of Airmen, family members and civilians as required by AFI 90-501. Additionally, an Air Force Community Assessment Survey was conducted and the results served to identify community strengths and needs.

"The survey assessed the effectiveness of community services and identified any service related gaps," said Karen Blackwell, Tinker's Community Support coordinator. "Concerns focused on topics related to general community well-being, deployments, adjustments to our changing work environment and resilience."

Tinker has formed a team consisting of helping agencies who have a direct impact on the focus items.

"We performed trend analysis from the feedback received," Ms. Blackwell said. "Those recommendations were used in putting together the 2014 - 2016 Tinker Community Action Plan. This newly devised plan will be our roadmap to improving the quality of life in our organizations and the Tinker community at-large."

The Community Action Plan's main areas of focus will be building and maintaining a strong resilient community, the Tinker environment related to deployment support and, lastly, reducing high risk behavior.
