The Military Health System implemented a new, nation-wide Nurse Advice Line May 2 to help TRICARE beneficiaries make informed decisions about acute health needs.

TRICARE beneficiaries have toll-free access 24 hours a day, seven days a week to a team of professional registered nurses who will answer questions and help with decisions regarding self-care at home or when it is best to see a healthcare provider.

NAL nurses will ask a series of questions about a caller's specific concern to enable them to best assist the caller in making an informed decision on when and how to seek care for an acute problem or will provide advice on self-care at home.

Call the NAL at 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273), Option 1, to get help with acute care questions and decisions.
