Air Force-wide BAH recertification under way for Airmen with dependents Published March 28, 2014 By 72nd Comptroller Squadron TINKER AIR FORCE BASE -- An Air Force-wide Basic Allowance for Housing recertification for Airmen entitled to BAH with-dependent rate started March 1 and is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 31. Every member of the Air Force -- including active duty, Guard and Reserve -- receiving with-dependent rate BAH is required to provide the supporting document to justify the entitlement along with a "wet-signed" AF Form 594. Members will be notified of the month they must recertify based on terminal digit of their social security number. Those affected will be notified via email, so act accordingly if you're one who receives an email from Finance. Upon notification the member will have 30 days to complete the recertification. (Unless the member is deployed or TDY, if recertification isn't completed within the allotted time, the member's BAH will be reduced to the single rate.) If the reduction occurs, the member will have the opportunity to request the entitlement be reinstated; however, it will require justification from the member's commander as to why the member did not meet the suspense. Members do not have to wait until email notification in order to complete the recertification. They are authorized to bring in the necessary documents prior to notification. The supporting documents include, but are not limited to: marriage certificate, birth certificate and dependency determination paperwork. The Financial Services office staff must see the original documents. If you have any questions as to what documents are necessary, do not hesitate to contact the Financial Services office. The office is willing to conduct a mass briefing for those units with shift workers. The BAH recertification will affect approximately 3,030 Tinker personnel. Members without dependents, members married to active duty members and single Airmen without dependents are not affected by this recertification.
