Tinker needs you.

The 2014 Caring for People Forum organizers are looking for military active duty, civilians, family members, reservists, teens, retirees and families with special needs to participate in this year's Caring for People Forums. The forums are planned for 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 24 in the Tinker Chapel fellowship hall.

"The forums are held to find out the needs of the community," said Karen Blackwell, community support coordinator with the 72nd Air Base Wing.

In past forums, participants made suggestions that resulted in the creation of programs such as the School Liaison Officers and Exceptional Family Member Program Coordinators throughout the Air Force installations.

The 2013 Caring for People Forum participants suggested Tinker have more "Airman-to-Airman" programs and improvements to civilian information on websites. As a result, these are some sample actions taken in response to their recommendations.
  • A new "one stop" civilian education and training website is being built.
  • Continued resilience training for supervisors
  • "Home Away from Home" (local host families for Airmen in the dorms)
  • Wingman Heritage Night at the Tinker Club for young Airmen (team-building social event)
  • Promotion of the wingman concept (encouraging and recognizing wingman interventions through awarding wingman coins, distributing wingman cards and leadership walk-abouts).
