The Air Force Materiel Command will conduct an anonymous, command-wide survey through Feb. 21 to assess the overall culture of safety within the command.

After a spike in mishaps over the second half of fiscal 2013, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III asked major command commanders to take a closer look at their safety posture.

In a memo issued to the work force, AFMC Commander Gen. Janet Wolfenbarger directed commanders down to the squadron level to have their units complete the Air Force Combined Mishap Reduction System Safety Survey before Feb. 21.

The survey, administered by the Air Force Safety Center, will arrive in Airmen and civilian employees' inboxes via email from the unit safety representative or commander. If they have not already received a direct link to the survey, Airmen and civilian employees should expect to receive one soon.

While the surveys are not required for bargaining unit employees, they are highly encouraged. The answers are completely anonymous and the data collected will be compiled at and above the squadron level to protect anonymity.
