TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. --
Tinker Family Orientation was hosted at the Tinker Club
Sept. 22.
Activity managers from programs and agencies throughout
the base presented briefings to a group of military members new to Tinker.
Following the mini-seminars, individuals had the opportunity to go around to
informational booths, to speak to a representative, ask questions and receive
further details.
Programs and agencies represented included: family
services; outdoor recreation; base librarian; childhood development centers;
lodging; bowling; golfing; health promotion; arts and crafts; auto shop;
information, tickets and travel; junior enlisted council.
Adapting, though seeming all too familiar in the military
world, is not always seamless. From helping members find accommodations, to
assisting parents to deciding on school districts, to offering extracurricular
and social activities, the welcoming program tries to make the transition as
smooth as possible. A perfect event for those who have recently PCS’d or just
want to see what all Tinker has to offer.
Will Berry with the 72nd Force Support Squadron Airman and
Family Readiness Center, along with Lisa Tuck, wife of 72nd Air Base Wing
Command Chief Master Sgt. David Tuck, greeted those new to the installation.
“This is a great opportunity to gather information, ask
questions and get yourselves acclimated,” Mr. Berry said.
An event geared toward adjustment, the orientation
welcomed military members, spouses and children. For more information, call the
