Lt. Col. Keith E. Quick assumed command of the 72nd Security Forces Squadron during an Oct. 5 ceremony.

Col. Michael Green, 72nd Mission Support Group commander, introduced Colonel Quick to his squadron, offering words of encouragement, affirmation and advice. He spoke to the immense responsibility held within the squadron and the high expectation to which they are held.

With close to 500 military and civilian defenders providing security over Tinker Air Force Base, over 5,500 acres and more than 450 facilities, the 72nd SFS is responsible for support for critical missions -  providing safety and security to over 27,000 personnel and manning the largest number of gates, currently standing at 12. A squadron devoted to providing a robust defense, with integrated response and creating rescue task forces of various capacities, Colonel Green asked the 72nd SFS to maintain its aggressive approach to force protection.

He gave guidance to both the incoming commander and his defenders.

“[Colonel Quick] is leading an exceptional squadron, one that has demonstrated time and time again their ability to ensure the safety and security of Team Tinker, its mission’s partners and the nation,” Colonel Green said. “[Defenders] are getting a top-notch commander, one who is ready to make great strides in the outstanding direction [SFS] is already moving.”

Colonel Quick joins the 72nd SFS after spending 15 months at the Pentagon and Air Force headquarters.

The new commander was excited to be back in front of defenders again, and said that leading Security Forces is what he loves to do. Colonel Quick expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to be the one chosen to spearhead the unit.

Before receiving his first official salute as commander, Colonel Quick spoke directly to members of his squadron.

“I ask each of you to think and clearly understand how important your mission is,” he said. “Never forget the men, women and children who work, live and play on Tinker Air Force Base so under the umbrella of security and protection you provide. While you should take great pride in the critical role you play, remember each time you stand a post that ours is a no fail mission.”
