TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. --
Playoffs start this week for the intramural soccer and
football teams after an interrupted regular season.
The seasons for both sports were shortened while the
running track surrounding the athletic field north of the dorms was replaced.
Soccer and football teams played their last regular season games this week.
The first three soccer playoff games are scheduled for
Wednesday at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. All nine teams are on the single-elimination
bracket leading to a championship game scheduled for Nov. 16.
The next round of playoff games is scheduled for Nov. 14,
also at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. Games leading to the championship will be held
Nov. 16 at 5:30 and 7 p.m.
Publication deadlines precluded this week’s game results
and the teams’ positions on the final playoff brackets. However, the 513th Air
Control Group and the 72nd Security Forces Squadron were leading the
regular-season soccer pack with undefeated 4-0 records as of Oct. 28.
Three other teams finished with winning records as of that
date: 552nd Maintenance Squadron (3-2); MOF Hooligans (3-1); and 72nd Med
Group/Aerospace Medicine Squadron (2-1).
The bracket climb for the eight football teams starts
Tuesday and also will be single elimination.
Three teams had tied for the best records (4-0) as of Oct.
28 – Reserve Gold, Rip Tide and 72nd SFS. Reserve White and 552nd MXS each
posted winning tallies of 2-1.
First-round playoff games are scheduled for 5:30, 6:30,
7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Semifinals are scheduled at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
Thursday. The final is slated for Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
