Playoffs start this week for the intramural soccer and football teams after an interrupted regular season.

The seasons for both sports were shortened while the running track surrounding the athletic field north of the dorms was replaced. Soccer and football teams played their last regular season games this week.

The first three soccer playoff games are scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. All nine teams are on the single-elimination bracket leading to a championship game scheduled for Nov. 16.

The next round of playoff games is scheduled for Nov. 14, also at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. Games leading to the championship will be held Nov. 16 at 5:30 and 7 p.m.

Publication deadlines precluded this week’s game results and the teams’ positions on the final playoff brackets. However, the 513th Air Control Group and the 72nd Security Forces Squadron were leading the regular-season soccer pack with undefeated 4-0 records as of Oct. 28.

Three other teams finished with winning records as of that date: 552nd Maintenance Squadron (3-2); MOF Hooligans (3-1); and 72nd Med Group/Aerospace Medicine Squadron (2-1).

The bracket climb for the eight football teams starts Tuesday and also will be single elimination.

Three teams had tied for the best records (4-0) as of Oct. 28 – Reserve Gold, Rip Tide and 72nd SFS. Reserve White and 552nd MXS each posted winning tallies of 2-1.

First-round playoff games are scheduled for 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Semifinals are scheduled at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The final is slated for Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
