SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Col. Robert Henderson assumed command of the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing from Col. David Sanford during a change of command ceremony hosted by Lt. Gen. Lee K. Levy II, Air Force Sustainment Center commander, at the Scott Event Center, July 20.
Henderson takes control of the only operational warfighting wing of the AFSC under Air Force Materiel Command. The unit is stationed at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
The 635th SCOW is made up of three groups geographically separated around the country whose responsibility is to supply the U.S. Air Force with aircraft parts, fuel, vehicles and equipment.
Henderson previously served as the 375th Mission Support Group commander on Scott AFB, where he was responsible for providing base support services to a workforce of 13,000 personnel and 31 tenant units, including United States Transportation Command, Air Mobility Command, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command and 18th Air Force.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Henderson has served as a group and squadron commander with numerous deployments, leading multiple operational and training contingents in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, Joint Guardian, New Dawn and Southern Watch.
