Program works on first impressions

Airman 1st Class Willblas Coriano-Cotto, 552nd Operations Support Squadron intelligence analyst, looks at the giant ‘survivor tree’ at the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum, site of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing while attending Tinker Air Force Base’s First Term Airmen Center downtown tour on March 8, 2019, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tinker has partnered with the Oklahoma City Convention and Visitors Bureau in an initiative to bring the military and civilian communities closer together in a unique program which began in January 2019. The group of Airmen spend part of a day downtown where they ride the new OKC Streetcar for free while learning about important landmarks, attractions and even where free parking is located. The downtown tour has quickly become a welcome capstone to the FTAC curriculum and, over time, should help integrate the military members with the community faster and smoother.
