Mark Kelly, commander of the 12th Air Force, Air Combat Command and commander of Air Forces Southern, U.S. Southern Command at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., presided over the ceremony. Col. Weiss will be responsible for Air Combat Command's fleet of E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft and ground-based Control and Reporting Centers (CRC) supporting combatant commanders worldwide. He will lead over 4,000 men and women at four Air Force bases and will manage resources that include 31 E-e AWACS aircraft and two CRC's valued at $15.6 billion.
