Rip Rap

County workers load huge chunks of concrete — about 90 cubic yards came from one of Tinker’s runway projects — to help Oklahoma County officials stabilize and mitigate rapid erosion occurring at the Canadian River and Triple-X Road Bridge. “The riprap we received from Tinker definitely saved this bridge from loss,” said Michael Taylor, second deputy for Oklahoma County District 2. The concrete was being removed from the airfield before repairs could be made. During the state emergency declaration following the severe weather event May 31 and flooding, Oklahoma County officials reached out to public and private partners to secure as much riprap as possible to keep bridges from being undermined.
