Drilling
A water quality monitoring well was drilled Monday near the Burger King at Arnold and M Ave. Groundwater samples pumped from the well will be analyzed periodically for evidence of pollution, said Jason Flaming, an environmental engineer with the 72nd Air Base Wing Civil Engineering Directorate. Previously a laundry facility was operated west of the restaurant site, Mr. Flaming related. In addition, he said, a gasoline station was located north of the eatery site, but fuel contamination from that former facility has already been extracted. The monitoring well was drilled by a subcontractor under a Performance-Based Remediation Contract through the Air Force Civil Engineer Center. (Air Force photo by Kelly White)
