Finding problems and fixing industrial equipment before breakdown is the goal of each member of the 76th MXSG Predictive Maintenance Team. The engineering technicians inspect a wide variety of equipment in every shop and building across Tinker. Ultrasound technician Michael West uses a parabolic dish to listen for long-range sounds that pinpoint leaks in valves and air systems, compressed gas systems or steam leaks. He can also check decibel levels of motor bearings, an indication of looming problems. Recently detecting an argon gas leak saved Tinker $75,000.
