Robert Gilsbach, a pneudraulic system mechanic with the 76th Commodities Maintenance Group, works on an air shut off valve for a C-5 air turbine motor. When wear on the small valve made it unrepairable, replacement came with a high-dollar price tag. Mr. Gilsbach’s low-cost fix saved the Air Force thousands and earned the mechanic a $10,000 Air Force award. (Air Force photos by Margo Wright)
