SFS top cops

Tinker 72nd Security Forces Squadron’s Senior Airman Jerry Christopher, Master Sgt. James Mogren and Staff Sgt. Kristopher Gaithright, from left, are shown at a base in Afghanistan last year. Their humanitarian mission as part of a Provincial Reconstruction Team, rebuilding the area with schools, water wells and roadways, placed them in areas thick with the Taliban and required a constant combative cover. Though wounded when their vehicle was destroyed by an improvised explosive device, Sergeant Mogren’s actions helped earn him the Billy Jack Carter Award for 2009. Sergeant Mogren is quick to deflect praise and says his actions are reflective of every SFS member and one reason the unit took the AFMC top large security forces unit award for 2009.
