Community covenant

Maj. Gen. David Gillett, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center commander, recently signed a community covenant during halftime at an Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game. The covenant is an Army initiative which evolved to include all services. The signing is meant to foster better relationships between the military and local community leaders who pledge their support to servicemembers and their families. Congressman Tom Cole, Navy Capt. Dwight Shepherd, Dr. Sharon Lease, Col. Anthony Johnson, Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett, Brig. Gen. Roger Duff, Dr. Gib Gibson, Maj. Gen. Myles Deering, retired Maj. Gen Toney Stricklin, Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Jari Askins and Maj. Gen. David Halverson signed with General Gillett during halftime. Other federal, state, local and military leaders signed the covenant before the game. More than 85 signing events have taken place across the country. (Air Force photo by Dave Faytinger)
