Fire training
Part of a ventilation team, Tinker firefighter Kevin Smith climbs to the roof of the empty Tinker apartment building during a tightly controlled live-fire training event last week. Empty except for wooden pallets burned in different rooms of the structure, the apartments quickly filled with blinding smoke, heat and flame. While outside temperatures clung to the low teens, the controlled burn soared inside temperatures to 800 degrees. (Air Force photos by Margo Wright)
