Battle repair
During an exercise, 1st Lt. Andrew Sturgeon measures a simulated battle-damaged B-52 to calculate the stress load of the area so he can design a repair for the expeditionary repair technicians. Lieutenant Sturgeon normally works in the Engineering Directorate, but is an aircraft battle damage repair-deployable engineer. The design is a recipe for repair, telling mechanics what materials are needed, including bolt patterns, patches and metals to use. (Air Force photo by Margo Wright)
